Baby Bump Skincare: Tips For Getting That Radiant Pregnancy Glow

Dorothy Tan

pregnancy

We have often heard of that enviable glow that women would supposedly acquire when they get pregnant. However, being a new mum can also come with its own set of skin-related problems.

One of the most common and biggest skin issues for pregnant ladies is melasma, which is brown discoloration that starts appearing on skin during pregnancy. This means that sunscreen becomes more important than ever, so putting on a broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen daily is an absolute must.

To prevent dry and itchy skin, use a mild cleanser and do not take long showers, especially with hot water. It is also advisable to pat your skin dry gently after showers instead of rubbing it with a towel. Finish off with a moisturizer to keep skin hydrated and healthy.

Other than the retinol cream, products that contain salicylic acid, hydroquinone, kojic acid and benzoyl peroxide should also be avoided.
