Here’s what to expect during your 45 minute facial makeup application appointment:
- Consultation: Your makeup artist will start by discussing your desired look. It can be helpful to bring along a reference photo, but it’s not essential.
- Skin Prep: It’s best to arrive to your appointment with clean, moisturized skin. However, if your skin needs it, we’ll apply another layer of moisturizer or primer to ensure that the makeup goes on evenly.
- Face makeup: First, we’ll get your skin looking smooth and clear, using products such as foundation, concealer, highlighter, blush and contour. A great base is key to a beautiful look!
- Lips, lids and lashes: Whether you’ve requested a smokey eye, a bold lip, or anything else, this stage is where the look really takes shape.
- A final touch: Once your makeup is finished and you’ve confirmed you’re happy with the look, your makeup artist may apply a little mattifying powder or setting spray to ensure that your gorgeous new look has maximum staying power.

Our professional makeup artist service is carried out from our central Ridgefield Park salon, which is located on the corner of Main Street and Park Street. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, so you can easily grab a quick breakfast, lunch, or coffee in the area before your appointment.
If you’re coming by car, there is plenty of on-street parking available. And if you’d prefer to come by bus, routes 83, 155 and 168 on the NJ Transit all stop just over the street from our salon doors.

How much does a makeup artist charge?
Because freelance makeup artists set their own fees and often include travel costs in their pricing, their rates vary significantly and can often be in the hundreds of dollars. At the Apothecarie salon, a full face makeup application is carried out by highly-skilled professionals who use top-quality products, but a full makeup application will only cost you $75.
Which makeup products do you use?
Your makeup application will primarily be done using products from two of our favorite ‘clean beauty’ brands, Glo and Inika Organic. These premium brands are both vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, and offer a wide variety of shades and formulations to suit all skin tones and skin types.
Should I arrive without makeup?
Yes. Although your makeup artist may apply a little moisturizer and/or primer if they feel it will help your makeup go on more smoothly, this service doesn’t include a cleanse. The appointment’s allotted 45 minutes are necessary to perfect your look – you can’t rush a work of art! So please arrive with clean and hydrated skin.
Do you offer a bride makeup artist service?
Of course! We’ve worked with numerous brides over the years, helping each and every one of them to walk down the aisle beaming with confidence. We also understand the importance of having photos you’ll be thrilled to look back on for the rest of your life, and we know all the tricks in the book to make your bridal makeup look spectacular not only in person, but on camera too.
While it’s not essential, many brides choose to book a trial session ahead of their big day. This allows you and your makeup artist to nail down exactly how you’d like to look ahead of time, after which we’ll note down the final products, colors, and application techniques used so that the result can be recreated exactly on the day of your wedding.

We’re more than happy to cater to wedding groups, which often includes the entire bridal party. Each person’s facial makeup application service takes approximately 45 minutes, and we can work on at least two people at a time. The rest of your wedding group can relax in our well-equipped salon while they await their turn for makeup magic.
