Eat, Drink and Snooze : The Best Skin Care You Could Ask For

the best skin care you could ask for

So you've been using creams and serums and lotions, and yet, your skin isn't showing an ounce of difference. Well, it may be time to take a hard look at your lifestyle. That’s right, whatever you eat, how much you drink and how long you sleep can influence the state of your complexion. Want the best skin care for your face? Make sure these tips become a habit.

Eat Your Fish

Fishes rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon, mackerel and albacore tuna, will increase your skin’s moisture levels and give it a healthy, luminous look. If you’re not a seafood lover, make sure your diet includes plenty of omega-3 rich foods, like walnuts, flaxseed and tofu. Regardless, popping a fish oil supplement daily ensures you’re getting the right dose of omegas.

Sip Cocoa

Chocolate, especially the dark varieties, is high in flavanol antioxidants, a key ingredient that researchers say promotes smoother, healthier skin—yum! Not a chocolate lover? Mix in fruits with yogurt or cereal, like blueberries or apples, both of which also boast flavanols.

Get Sufficient Shut-Eye

Sure you’re catching zzz’s, but how you’re sleeping could be sabotaging your looks.  Even the best skin care can’t cover up dark circles and a dull, tired complexion. Anything over 7 hours is optimal, but you want to make sure it’s a deep sleep. To maximize your rest, don a silky mask that won’t leave creases and shuts out any light (even a clock on a  dimmer can disrupt deep REM). And try to go to bed at the same time every night; staying on a schedule improves the quality of your sleep so you feel and look like you had a good night’s rest, always.
